How do I know my practitioner is qualified?
The best way to tell if someone is a qualified CAM (Complementary and Alternative Medicine) practitioner is to check whether they are registered with a relevant regulatory body. They ensure that all of their members are performing at a high standard
and maintaining and building their clinical knowledge through continual professional development.
Unfortunately it can get a bit tricky because only certain therapies have mandatory registration. For example, chiropractors, osteopaths and physiotherapists are required by law to register with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), the General Osteopathic
Council (GOC) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) respectively, but acupuncturists are not. However, most CAM therapies have their own voluntary registers which ensure that all members meet a certain standard.
At Theralist, only appropriately accredited therapists are eligible to be listed.
Can I see my CAM therapist on the NHS?
Unfortunately, many people are finding it increasingly difficult to gain access to CAM and allied healthcare professionals on the NHS. However, there is funding for some services, which vary according to area, so it's worth asking your GP if they
are able to refer you.
Does insurance cover my appointment?
Many complementary therapies are covered by private medical insurance. You can find out whether you are covered by calling your insurance company; they will be able to tell you if they cover the therapy in question and how many sessions are allowable
under your policy.
How do I know which type of therapy will help my medical condition?
Our Therapy Guide is designed to help answer this question. You can access the Therapy Guide from the navigation bar on the home screen. If you are still unsure, use the ‘Contact' feature on the profile pages to ask specific questions to therapists
I can't find therapists in my area, will other therapies and locations be added soon?
Yes! We are constantly increasing the number of therapists and locations. If you're unable to find what you're looking for check back soon.
Why can't I see my review?
In order to make our rating system as fair as possible, we don't publish reviews until we have information from several patients. This means that it may take a while for your review to be published if your therapist is new to Theralist. Please
encourage your friends to join and get rating!
Any review that is flagged as inappropriate may not be published on the website or may be later removed. Please look at our terms and conditions for further details. If you feel that this has happened unfairly, please do not hesitate to get in touch via
email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Why do I have to join as a member to leave a review?
Like most review websites, we ask you to join before you rate a therapist. This helps to establish that the reviews are genuine, and prevent fraudulent or offensive reviews. We treat data security extremely seriously, and only ask for your basic information.
We will not give your details to any third party.
What if I have concerns about my therapist?
At Theralist, we only list appropriately qualified therapists, meaning that your therapist is accredited by an approved body. Serious concerns are extremely rare, but you can be reassured that any complaint will be investigated fully and appropriate
action taken. To discuss this further and for assistance, please email email@example.com.
My area is covered but I can't find my therapist.
Encourage them to register - registration is completely free for all therapists! Remind them that registration with Theralist will increase their exposure to new clients and allow them to gather useful feedback from existing patients
What does ordering therapists by "Top Rated" mean?
At Theralist, we do things a little differently, and believe that it's important to recognise not only great reviews, but the consistency and number of those reviews. So when you see therapists ordered by "Top Rated", we're rewarding this using a clever system
that we've developed to make us as reliable and useful to you as possible. This means that a therapist with lots of 4 star reviews and one 3 star, will rank higher than one with only a couple of 4 star reviews. This method is fair, completely unbiased and
we certainly don't accept any payment from it!
As with everything at Theralist, we aim to be as open and transparent as possible, so the average review score is always displayed next to the therapist, and you can select therapists to be ordered by this if you'd rather. You're in control, and if you think
that your therapist should have a higher rating, then please get reviewing!
I'm a therapist, much does this cost?
Nothing! We do not, and will not charge for listing.
If you don't see what you are looking for, please feel free to send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
